Week (4) Body Structure & Positions Prof. Moustafa A. A. Atya [email protected] 01001986936 أهال ر بحضاتكم إدارة التدريب 2 EXPECTATIONS Learning Objectives Learning Objectives After this topic, students should be able to: 1- Recognize the anatomical terms. 2- Reproduce Anatomical Regions. 3- Identify &recognize the Anatomical Positions Definition of human anatomy * is the branch of biology concerned with the study of the structure of human body and its parts. * Basic anatomy: studies all features & parts of the body * Clinical anatomy: studies the human body in relation to the diseases & congenital anomalies. Divisions of anatomy 1- Gross (Macroscopic) anatomy :- Studies the human body features seen with the naked eye 2- Tissue (Microscopic) anatomy = Histology :- Studies the human body features seen only with the microscope 3- Embryology (Developmental anatomy):- Studies the process of gametogenesis (Formation of sperms & ova), fertilization, development of the embryo from the time of fertilization till birth and congenital anomalies affecting all body systems Divisions of anatomy (cont.) 4- Surface anatomy:- Studies the limits of the internal organs on the outer surface of the body (To draw the internal organs on the outer surface) 5- Radiological anatomy:- Studies how the different parts of the body appear on radiology Regions of the human body 1- Head and neck 2- Upper limbs 3- Lower limbs 4- Trunk:- Anatomically divided into a- Thorax b- Abdomen c- Pelvis d- Perineum Systems of the human body 1- Digestive system:- Responsible for digestion & absorption 2- Cardiovascular system:- Responsible for rotating the blood to all parts of the body 3- Respiratory system:- Concerned with gas exchange & olfaction 4- Urinary system:- Responsible for filtration of urine from the blood and conveying it to the exterior 5- Nervous system:- Responsible for the voluntary movement, perception of sensations & control of other systems 6- Musculo skeletal system: responsible for movement. Anatomical position It is the position in which 1- The body is standing upright 2- Face & eyes are directed anteriorly 3- Upper limbs are by the sides with the palms facing anteriorly 4- Lower limbs are close together with the feet are parallel & the toes directed anteriorly Summary & Conclussions إدارة التدريب 12 Accountability Source:- Gray’s anatomy for students, 2015, third edition التدريب 13 إدارة 13 Did you meet your Expectations?
