THERIOGENOLOGY 1 12/05/24 FIRST TERM OBJECTS Ontogenesis Functional Anatomy of Female G.S Functional Anatomy of Male G.S Estrous Cycle Ovulation & Fertilization Pregnancy Diagnosis 2 12/05/24 Ontogenesis ( reproductive embryology) Two sexually non-differentiated -1 gonads 2- Two pairs of duct (Mullerian and Wolffian) 3- Urogenital sinus 4- Genital tubercle ( clitoris or penis) 3 5- Genital swelling ( vulvar lips or12/05/24 4 12/05/24 5 12/05/24 6 12/05/24 Development of male & female reproduction system Long maturation time course begin in embryo& end at puberty. Consist of three stages :- 1. Differentiation of gonads(chromosomal sex) 2. Differentiation of internal sex organs 3. Differentiation of external sex organs the last two stages controlled by endocrine factors. factors Sexual differentiation occur from 45 to 70 days of prenatal life 7 12/05/24 Differentiation of gonads-1 Migration of primordial germ cell from hind gut in endoderm genital ridge in mesoderm according to distribution of germ cell gonads formed. Cortex form ovary Medulla form testis Depend on chromosomal sex ( X or Y) 8 12/05/24 Differentiation of internal-2 organs ( duct system) Bipotential embryo has mullerian duct (female duct) & wolffian duct (male duct) Male :- - Testis secrete mullerian duct inhibitory factor cause regression of female ducts & development of male ducts. - Wolfian duct give (epididymis, vas deference, penis and prepuce) - the reminant of mullerian duct called (uterus musculanus in male ) 9 12/05/24 Female:- - Mullerian duct development & persist. (absence to mullerian inhibitory factor) - Lower part of wolffian duct disappear & some remnant remain and form what is called (Gartner's duct). - Other tissue from wolffian duct development of ( suspensory ligament of ovary ). Mullerian duct give 2 oviduct, uterus (2 horn, body), cervix, vagina 10 proper and vagina vestibule) 12/05/24 Differentiation of external-3 organs (external gentalia) Bipotential embryo has one opening called (cloacae), separate and form ( urogenital sinus) , complete separation form (rectum)  Genital tubercle :-in female called ( clitoris ) but in male called ( penis )  mesoderm extend distance behind umbilical cord and form prominent swelling called ( phallus )  phallus gives valva in female, scrotum in male 11 12/05/24 12 12/05/24 13 12/05/24 14 12/05/24
