Challenges Related to Economic Tasks of the Country Q2 AP5 CHALLENGES Challenges in 1. Agriculture 2. Forestry 3. Fishing 4. Mining Challenges in Agriculture Climate change is one of the greatest challenges currently faced by farmers. Unpredictable climate patterns are having a severe impact on agricultural productivity. Rising temperatures can lead to reduced crop/plants/veggies/ yields, Extreme weather events such as floods and storms are causing crop losses. Location of the farm is also a problem Places where storms always happen is a big problem to farmers Market Access Means where to sell their vegetables and food products Small scale farmers cannot keep their stocks longer and might be rotten easily Lack of roads and bridges can affect the farmers when they sell their products When bridge collapse, farmers cannot cross to another place where they have to sell their veggies or fruits Challenges in Fishing Overfishing Catching too many fish at once so number fishes becomes low They are unable to reproduce Climate change Extreme weather such as heat waves badly affects the fishes—they can die when its too warm or hot Pollution in the Ocean Pollutants such as crude oil (used in cars or boats) can harm the fish It can cause sickness and they are unable to reproduce Pollution in the Ocean Plastics can cause indigestion and poisoning among the fishes Habitat or Home Destruction Blasting can harm the corals where fishes reproduce and live Alive Corals This is how a healthy corals look life Challenges in Forestry 1. Climate Change Trees in the forests are dying due to global warming 2. Forests Fires Trees in the forests are dying due to global warming 2. Illegal Logging Trees are cut down, becomes a timber and sold without following what the law says Trees are cut and can result into soil erosion and flooding Soil Erosion Flooding Challenges in Mining 1.Climate Change Mining contributes to global greenhouse emissions which can harm the environment Owners of the mining industry needs to find ways to reduce carbon emissions 2. Pressures from government and society Mining face pressures to finds ways to care for the environment Owners of the mining industry needs follow rules and policies 3. Health and Safety Underground mining is a risky business for safety of employees Underground mining is a risky business for safety of employees Collapse of the tunnel can cause death of the workers Landslide can also happen in open-pit mining
