# People Media ## What is people media? People media refers to persons that are involved in the use, analysis, evaluation and production of media and information. ### Who do you think are "people media"? The document includes an image of 4 people with question marks over their faces, suggesting that these people are "people media". ## 2 Types of People Media 1. **People as Media** - They are the media itself. - They serve as the *medium* for another person to learn and acquire new knowledge. 2. **People in Media** - They are the people behind another form of media. - They use text media, visual media, multimedia, etc. in disseminating information and imparting knowledge. ## 1. People as Media - This slide describes 4 types of people within the "People as Media" category. ### 1. Opinion Leaders - They are leaders for a certain group who give details and information to lesser active persons in the group. - This is illustrated with a two-step flow communication model, showing how media information is communicated from Mass media to Opinion Leaders, and then from Opinion Leaders to the Masses. - The model is attributed to Paul Lazarsfeld, Bernard Berelson, and Hazel Gaudet in 1944. ### 2. Citizen Journalist - These are people without professional journalism training that use modern technology and internet to create, augment or fact-check media on their own or in collaboration. ### 3. Social Journalist - This is a journalist that uses social media to make their content available to more people. ### 4. Crowdsourcer - This is the person who obtains needed services, ideas, or content by soliciting contributions from a large group of people, especially from the online community. ## 2. People in Media - This slide describes 4 types of people within the "People in Media" category. ### 1. Print Journalists - An example is Randy David and he is described as an immigration lawyer in the image. ### 2. Photojournalists - The image shows a person taking a picture in a crowded street. ### 3.
