REVIEWER FOR PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION **- PHYSICAL EDUCATION-**It is an integral part of the educational program designed to promote the optimum development of an individual physically, mentally, socially, emotionally and spiritually through total body movement in the performance of properly selected physical activities, students will develop good health and maintain their high level of physical fitness that enable them to enjoy good life. **Article 14, Section 19-** From the 1986 Philippine Constitution, state that "the state shall promote Physical education and encourage; - - - - including training for International competitions; to foster: - - - for the development of a healthy and alert citizenry" **Republic Act. 5708-**An Act Proving for the Promotions and Financing of an Integrated Physical Education and Sports Development Program for the Schools in the Philippines. **Friedrich Ludwig Jahn -**the father of modern physical education **Physical Fitness-**It is the ability of the whole body - - - - to do work together efficiently and effectively without undue fatigue. **Physical Fitness Test-**As a part of educational system strives to help or facilitate the development of the potentialities of the individual so that he/she can attain total fitness that enable him/her to enjoy good and useful life. **Physical Activity -** It is dominated by movement and fitness education content and aimed at physical literacy and the physical activity disposition of all learners from the basic to the tertiary education levels. **Cardiovascular Endurance-**The ability of the heart, lungs, blood vessels, blood volume to transport oxygen. **Muscular Strength-** The ability of a muscle to exert force contract maximally, one time. **Muscular Endurance-**The ability of the muscles to contract repeatedly without tiring over a period of time. **Flexibility-** Refers to the ability to move a joint throughout its natural range of motion. **Body Composition-**The ratio of body fat to lean body tissue, including muscle, bone, water, and connective tissue such as ligaments, cartilage, and tendons. **Balance-**The ability to control or stabilize the body while standing or moving. **Agility-** The ability to change and control the direction and position of the body while maintaining a constant, rapid motion. **Speed-** The ability to move the body parts swiftly while simultaneously applying the maximum force of your muscles. **Mental Development Objectives** Focus is on the acquisition of knowledge and understanding, ability to analyze body movements and skills, evaluate game situations and make important decisions. **Emotional Development Objectives** Participating in a varied physical activities enables one to acquire; - - - - **Social Development objectives** In the process, he learns to respect others, and practices fair play, sportsmanship, teamwork, and develops leadership. He learns the game of life-the application of the golden rule. **Body mass index** It is a test to diagnose or evaluate the status of physical fitness of an individual. **Push up** It is to measure strength of upper extremities. [**curl ups-**] It is to measure strength of abdominal muscles Equipment: exercise mat or any clean mat. **Sit and reach** Is a test of flexibility for the lower extremities particularly the hamstring. **Zipper test** is a test of upper arm and shoulder girdle flexibility intended to parallel the strength / endurance assessment of the region. **\_[3 min. step]** It is to measure cardiovascular endurance. **Trunk lift -** this is to test the strength and flexibility of the low back extensor muscles. Strong low back and abdominal muscles are important for maintenance of a healthy back. **1 kilometer run/ walk -** This test is to measure the ability of your heart, lungs, circulatory system and the muscles to transport and utilize oxygen during physical activity. It is an excellent measure of overall health and a Physical fitness. **40 m sprints** the purpose of this test is to measure running speed. If you run very fast at high intensity, you will be an asset in most sporting events in individual sports as well as team sports. **Standing long jump-** The strength and power of the leg muscles are measured in this test.
