# Renewable Energy Sources The document describes different renewable sources of energy, their advantages and disadvantages. ## Geothermal **Advantages:** * Non-intermittent * Needs little maintenance * Produces no carbon emissions * Low operational and maintenance costs **Disadvantages:** * Has a lot of toxins and hazardous waste * Costs a lot of money ## Tidal **Advantages:** * Non-intermittent * Needs little maintenance * Produces no carbon emissions * It provides energy storage **Disadvantages:** * Only occur in oceans with significant tides * Can only be in ocean's * Doesn't generate much electricity compared to other energy sources ## Fossil Fuels **Advantages:** * Can generate large amounts of electricity in a short period * Fossil Fuels can be found everywhere **Disadvantages:** * Finite resource * Produce carbon dioxide * Pollute the air, water, and environment, contributing to global warming ## Nuclear Energy **Advantages:** * Generates large amounts of electricity in a short period * Produces less carbon, so it has a small carbon footprint **Disadvantages:** * Finite resource * Produces hazardous waste * Nuclear waste can be hazardous due to its radioactivity * Needs uranium which is a finite resource **Important Notes:** The document also includes a brief description of the process involved in generating electricity from each source. For example, steam from the Earth's core turns a turbine, which activates a generator, and produces electricity in the case of geothermal energy.
