**PRINCIPLES OF FIRST AID (4C's)** - Call for help - Calmly take charge - Check the scene &the casualty - Carefully apply FIRST AID ASSESSING THE SKILLS OF A FIRST AIDER ===================================== - OBSERVER - LISTEN - FEEL - TALK - TOUCH - PROVIDE - BUILD TRUSH DRABC ===== - DANGER: - RESPONSE - AIRWAY - BREATHIGN - CIRCULATION WOUNDS ====== - ABRASION: The top layer of skin is removed with little or no blood loss - LACERATION: A cut skin with jagged, irregular edges and caused by a forceful tearing away of skin tissue - INCISION: Smooth edges and resemble a surgical or paper cut - PUNCTURES: Deep narrow wounds such as a stab wound from a nail or a knife in the skin and underlying organs - AVULSION: Flat of skin is torn loose and is either hanging from the body or completely removed - AMPUTATION: Cutting or tearing off a body part such as a finger, toe, hand, foot, arm, or leg TYPES OF BANDAGES ================= - TRIANGULAR: Triangular bandages could be used on many parts of the body to support and immobilize - CRAPE BANDAGES: type of woven gauze which has the quality of stretching. - GAUZE/COTOON BANDAGES: Lightly woven cotton material. Frequently used to retain dressings on wound of fingers, hands, toes, feet, ears, eyes, head. ADHESIVE: use to retain dressing and used where application of pressure to an area is needed. TYPES OF FRACTURE ================= - IMPACTED F - RACTURE: After a heavy fall the fracture may be impacted by the force, spinal injury falling from the tree - PATHOLOGICAL FRACTURES: Theres occur when the bone is weakened by loss of calcium, infection or cancer - STRESS FRACTURES: Stress caused by repeated minor trauma in athletics training involves in strenuous training First AID KIT ============= - Bandages - Adhesive bandages - Gauze pads - Small mirror - Over the counter drugs - Alcohol - Alcohol wipes - Hand sanitizer - Thermometer - Scissors - Tweezers - Nail scissors - Antibiotic cream - Matches - Ziploc bags - First aid manual
