# Kinds of Quantitative Research ## Kinds of Quantitative Research - Descriptive - Correlational Design - Quasi-Experimental Design - Experimental Design ## Descriptive Design - Describe a particular phenomenon by observing it as it occurs in nature - No experimental manipulation; does not start with a hypothesis. - Example: The determination of students' academic performance while in the modular distance learning. ## Correlational Design - Identifies the relationship between variables. - Does not consider the cause and effect; recognize trends and patterns in data. - Example: The relationship between the amount of physical activity done and student academic achievement. ## Quasi-Experimental Design - Establish the cause-and-effect relationship of variables. - No random selection and assignment of subjects. - Example: Effect of smoking on the respiratory system ## Experimental Design - Establish the cause-and-effect relationship of two or more variables. - There is random selection and assignment of subjects. - Example: Effect of enhancers on plant growth. - Experimental Group - Control Group
