# Learn Shortcuts, and Fast Mental Math Techniques ## Memorize Basic Definitions: - Example: A triangle has three sides and three angles. ## Explore Properties Using Drawings: 1. Draw triangles and measure their angles to verify the 180° rule. 2. Use compasses to draw circles and calculate their circumference. ## Solve Real-Life Problems: - Example: Calculate the area of a rectangular room. ## Learn Theorems: - Example: Pythagoras theorem for right angled triangles # Geometry ## Core Concept of Geometry ## Geometry studies the properties and relationships of shapes, lines, angles, and spaces. # Basic Concepts ## Points: - A point has no line. It simply represents "location (position)". ## Lines: - When we say "Lines", extended or not, we refer to "straight line" "without end point, thickness or curvature". It is the geometrical line that is impossible to draw because of its nature, because it is impossible to conceive. ## Line Segment: - Basically, this is the actual line that we can draw based on measurement. It has two (2) points. ## Angles: - Measures the "rotated space" between two line segments about a fixed point. It uses the degrees (°). # Properties of Shapes ## Triangle (3 sides, 3 angles) - Sum of angle inside a triangle (interior angle of a triangle is 180°) ## Quadrilateral (4 sides, 4 angles) - Sum of angle inside a quadrilateral (interior angle of a quadrilateral is 360°). ## Polygons (3 sides & 3 angles and above) - E.g. apart from triangle and square, we have pentagon, hexagon, heptagon, and so on. ## Circumference of a Circle (2πr) - The "total distance around a circle". Measured in meters scale.
