Internal Quality Assurance System Prepared by Dr. Walaa Elsaied Sakr Assisstant Professor of Comparative Education & Educational Adminstration Faculty of Education- Ain Shames University The lecture of today will deal with the following: Institutional Evaluation definition Self evaluation definition Principles of self evaluation Self evaluation objectives Importance of self evaluation Characteristics of School self evaluation Self evaluation standards Institutional Evaluation, School performance definition: Institutional Evaluation: is one of evaluation methods developed to evaluate the quality of practical information that take place in the school, to figure the appropriate needs for fulfilling the institution objectives, and to determine the required changes for achieving the school`s goals, according to certain standards. School performance: is a set of practices, behaviors and activities carried out by members of the school community in accordance with the school’s vision mission to achieve its goals. Self - Evaluation ( Internal review, Internal Audit): It is a process that aims to monitor the educational, administrative, and social reality of the school, compare it with the school’s hopes and ambitions previously defined, willingly to narrow the existing gap, and then develop the institutional performance as a whole with all its elements and programs, in doing this, self evaluation depends on standards and indicators. Many members participate in it, Board of directors, parents, students, community members, teachers,....etc, inside the school. Principles of Self-Evaluation: Scientific Confidentially Planned Accuracy Moral & Clarity Trust& Cooperati Objective on Self- Evaluation Objectives: Improving the talents of the school staff so that they can highly contribute in achieving school quality. Creating an improvement plan for school, In order to improve institutional performance, administratively and educationally. Identifying strengths and weaknesses in the light of quality and accreditation standards. Increasing educational awareness and achieving collaboration among members of the school community. Assisting the school in achieving professional development for all members of the school community. Training the school staff on the applied use of data collection, evaluation, and analysis. Supporting school stakeholder engagement; Which reinforces the idea of shared responsibility. Encouraging teachers' participation in the internal review process, providing necessary feedback to parents and students, and participating in planning the school development agenda. Identifying priorities for improvement; assist in spreading an effective evaluation culture in the school, as well as contributing in the formation of a school culture based on performance. Reinforcing educational and psychological cooperation of the school staff by providing opportunities for cooperation, evaluation, and participation in decision-making processes and resource management. Identifying what is useless in school practices and determining what are required changes to achieve school goals. Importance of Self-Evaluation: School self-evaluation has led to a number of positive changes, such as: Raising awareness about school quality. Improving its performance of the school. Prioritizing fields that require improvement in the school. Providing targeted support to students, achieving the greatest achievement for students. Reviewing content and organizing the curriculum. Characteristics of School Self-Evaluation: Self-Evaluation Standards: Participation of higher management in improving performance rates, through consultation with department heads and workers to determine work tasks and objectives. Commitment of managers, participants and employees to improve performance. Strategic objectives integration. Building performance measures and feedback systems. Completing documentation of total quality management.
