As a class, brainstorm reasons why you think people would want to leave their home country (Push Factors): War is a very big reason for why people would want to leave their home country, many places are in war right now such as ukraine, many ukranians are immigrating to other countries. Another reason could be health, some places aren’t very good to live and dont have enough food or water to support the average person. The final reason that I believe people may want to leave their home country would be leaders. Some countries have horrible world leaders that are doing horrible things for their country, they may be kicking people out or getting their country in economical trouble. Why do you think people would want to immigrate (move to) Canada (Pull Factors)? I feel like many people want to immigrate to Canada for a few reasons. 1. Free healthcare, Canada provides healthcare (using taxes) however, they still do provide good healthcare. 2. Canada is a very safe country, there aren’t many cases of serious crime or mass killings 3. Canada also accepts many immigrants and doesnt have many policies preventing people from coming Predict why Canada has encouraged immigrants both in the past and present times. I feel as though canada encourages immigration to boost the economy, many immigrants find jobs immediately which helps Canadas economy grow more. Also many people immigrating need to buy houses and such furthering the rise of the economy. In the past i feel Canada encouraged immigration to get more people into the country and make it its own. However, presently it is economically driven. What current issue has put immigration at the forefront of Canadian media and consciousness? High costs of living and housing prices put immigration at the front of Canadian consciousness. Canadians believe that immigration is the center of the high living costs, letting more people into the country drives up premiums.
