## Methods and Procedures 1. Rabbit weight 2. Anesthesia: Inject 30% urethane from marginal ear vein slowly, 3.3ml/kg, then fix it on operating table. 3. Operation: Shear the fur on neck, cut a 5-7 cm incision on the skin along the midline of cervical part. 4. Separate the left common carotid artery and insert a arterial cannula into it then connect the cannula to transducer, in order to measure blood pressure. ### Methods of Insert an Arterial Cannula: - At the end of the artery far from the heart (as near as possible to the head), the left common carotid artery is ligated with a silk thread. - At the end of the artery near the heart (as near as possible to the heart), block the artery with the arterial clip. - Then cross a thread between the knot and the clip under the artery. - At the end of the artery near the knot (the end far from the heart), scissor an inclined cut towards the heart on the artery with a sharp ophthalmological scissors, about half diameter of the artery. - Then insert a arterial cannula into the artery from the cut, ligate the silk thread under the artery to fix the cannula and to avoid the slippage. ### Methods of Insert a Ductus Venosus: - Separate the right vena jugularis externa and insert a ductus venosus for 5-6 cm to right atrium, connect with the pressure transducer to measure CVP. - Cross a thread under the vena jugularis externa, and then lift the end of the vena far from the heart (as near as possible to the head) to avoid the blood return to the heart. - At the end of the vena near the thread, scissor an inclined cut towards the heart on the vein with a sharp ophthalmological scissors, about half diameter of the vessel. - Then insert a ductus venosus for 5-6 cm to right atrium from the cut. - Then lay down the thread under the vena jugularis externa to ensure blood return. - Inject heparin solution into vein in the edge of an ear to prevent from cruor, then inject the solution full into the transducer that connects to a plastic artery cannula. - Open the computer, observe blood pressure. - Click BL420 on the Desktop - Inject liquid paraffin 0.5-1 ml into vein in the edge of an ear to make thromboembolism, and observe the change of blood pressure. - Inject normal saline to heart massively and rapidly from ductus venosus, and observe the change of CVP. - After the death, open the chest and abdominal cavity, observe the change of heart, liver and ascites.
