Environmental Health the branch of public health that: focuses on the relationships between people and their environment. Environmental Problems Environmental Problems 1. Air Pollution -the contamination of air with harmful substances that cause detrimental effects on life and health Environmental Problems 2. Water Pollution -contamination of water that causes harmful effects on life and health Environmental Problems 3. Noise Pollution -the excessive sound that causes hearing loss, stress, fatigue, irritability, tension, headache, and high blood pressure Environmental Problems 4. Land Pollution -the degradation of Earth’s surface through the misuse of the soil How can poor environmental sanitation negatively impact your health? Diseases and Disorders Caused by Poor Sanitation Respiratory Diseases Common cold -a viral infection of the upper respiratory tract caused by many different viruses Gastrointestinal Diseases refers to diseases involving the gastrointestinal tract caused by poor personal hygiene, poor environmental sanitation, and limited access to clean water Gastrointestinal Diseases Diarrhea -the condition of unusual frequent and liquid bowel movement Gastrointestinal Diseases Cholera -an infection of the small intestine that may result to severe diarrhea Gastrointestinal Diseases Dysentery -an infectious disease that is passed through the ingestion of food and water that has been contaminated Skin Diseases when the skin comes contact with pollutants, it results to some illnesses like eczema, scabies, and ringworms Neurological Impairment diseases that are related to the brain and spinal cord caused by Mercury poisoning Neurological Impairment Mercury Poisoning -a type of metal poisoning and medical condition caused by exposure to mercury and its compounds As a Marist… Remember!
