**General Administrative Guideline** --------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------- ------------- Subject: INTERVIEW REQUESTS FROM NON-CITY ORGANIZATIONS Effective Date: 1-1-2013 GAG: 1-26. Applies to: ALL FIRE DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL Supersedes: Replaces 1-26 Page 1 of 2 Responsible Committee: Human Resources Next Review Date: --------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------- ------------- **PURPOSE:** To establish a policy and uniform guidelines regarding requests to interview KCFD personnel made by non-city individuals, agencies and organizations. Requests are often made of KCFD personnel by attorneys, insurance company adjustors and investigators for interviews regarding an emergency response or other activities of KCFD. Such requests are typically made because attorneys, insurance company adjustors and investigators regard public safety personnel, who are among the first to arrive at the scene of an emergency medical service call, a motor vehicle accident or a fire incident, as valuable and competent witnesses to such incidents. Frequently, such requests are made because a law suit has been filed, or is being considered, by someone involved in the incident. Usually, neither the personnel nor the city is, or will be, a party in this law suit. This GAG is not intended to be applicable when the City or employee is a target of a lawsuit or the request is made by a law enforcement agency. **SCOPE:** Applies to all KCFD personnel. **GUIDELINES:** A. INTERVIEW REQUESTS B. WRITTEN QUESTIONS C. APPROVAL OF FIRE ADMINISTRATION D. OVERTIME; RIGHT TO CONSULT; NO DUTY TO ANSWER 1. Absent the express permission of the Fire Chief, no overtime shall be granted to answer any written questions submitted by non-city individuals, agencies and organizations. E.
