## Transnasal Pulmonary Aerosol Delivery * Transnasal pulmonary aerosol delivery through nasal cannula has gained increasing popularity * Pediatric patients with bronchiolitis or asthma were found to become less anxious and more comfortable when inhaling bronchodilator via nasal cannula. * HFNC has been used for administration of bronchodilators for asthma or COPD and inhaled epoprostenol for pulmonary hypertension. The image shows a diagram of how a transnasal pulmonary aerosol delivery system works. The system consists of a nebulizer, a heater/humidifier, and a nasal cannula. Air/oxygen is delivered to the nebulizer, which creates a mist of medication. The mist is then delivered to the patient through the nasal cannula. The diagram shows a patient connected to the transnasal pulmonary aerosol delivery system. The patient is using the system to inhale medication for asthma.
