Embalming Equipment Embalming Equipment Injection Devices Pressure Machine – A pump that forces the embalming fluid into the arterial system of the body, mimicking the pressure created by the living heart. The machine consists of a fluid reservoir, (usually three gallons), a pump, and pressure gauges with control dials and rate- of-flow gauges with control dials. It is also equipped with a long tube to transfer the fluid from the machine to the body. III.A.1.a Gravity injector An apparatus used to inject arterial fluid; relies on gravity to create the pressure required to deliver the fluid. Approx.1 pound of pressure is created for every two feet raised above injection site. Bulb syringe A self-contained manual pump made from soft rubber designed to create pressure to deliver arterial fluid as it passes through one-way valves located within the bulb. III.A.1.b-d Aspiration Devices Hydroaspirator - A device using high water pressure which creates a suction. This suction is then used to aspirate the hollow organs and the lumen in the body thereby removing it of gasses and fluids. III.A.2.a WATER FLOW Electric aspirator–device that uses a motor to create suction for the purpose of aspiration. III.A.2.b Electric spatula (Tissue reducer) An electrically-heated blade which may be used to dry moist tissue, reduce swollen tissue, and restore contour to natural form. III.A.3 Body lifts Electric or hydraulic lifts for the transfer of the deceased in the funeral home. III.A.4 Electric Sterilizer Autoclave Sterilizer Chemical Sterilizer (pressure) III.A.5 Body positioning devices: head blocks, arm blocks, body rests. All are impermeable to fluids.
