SURVEY is the most popularly and widely used as it is the easiest way to gather information about any topic or issue from a big number of people or groups. Survey is a set of questions aimed at gathering specific data from a targeted group of people. Survey is an essential tool in finding out how a particular group of people think, feel and behave Survey it has the intention of generalizing the processed information to represent the notion of the target. Designing a Survey Questionnaire Desinging a survey questionnaire involves certain steps that will help a researcher create questions that are focused on extracting intended data from the target population Establishing Goals Statement a. Face-to-face Structured Interview The interview is set personally and the people involved face each other in order to gather the necessary information. Face-to-face Structured Interview Questions on the survey are asked directly to the respondent by the researcher. Telephone Survey The survey is done using telephone or cellular phones Telephone Survey The calls are made to ask individuals on particular questions Telephone Survey This method can be used for asking consequential questions. Self- administered Approach the survey is administered by the researcher himself/herself Paper- and - pencil Survey This is a traditional method wherein the respondents who usually preferred the manual method must be present in the administration of the survey. Online Survey is one of the most famous sources of data collection, Online Survey where a set of survey questions is sent out to respondents and the members of this sample can respond to the questions over the internet Online Survey Respondents receive online surveys in various ways such as email, embedded over website, social media or forms. Mail Survey - survey questionnaires are mailed to individuals who are given enough time to read and ponder on the information asked. BLUFF A questionnaire ensures standardization and comparability of the data across interviewers, increases speed and accuracy of recording, and facilitates data processing. BLUFF QUESTIONNAIRE is a research instrument consisting of a series of questions for the purpose of gathering information from respondents QUESTIONNAIRE can be thought of as a kind of written interview. Designing a questionnaire 1. Determine the research problem or the target information. 2. Choose the type of questions and method of administration: (written, email or web form, telephone interview, personal interview) 3. Determine the general questions content needed to obtain the desired information. 4. Determine the form of response. 5. Choose the exact question wording. 6. Make sure that the sequence of the questions is effective. 7. Test the questionnare and revise if needed. CLOSED-ENDED QUESTIONS Limit the answers of the respondents to response options provided on the questionnaire. CLOSED-ENDED QUESTIONS It is time-efficient, responses are easy to analyze and ideal for quantitative type of research. 1. Dichotomous or two- point questions 1. Dichotomous or two- point (YESquestions or NO, Satisfied or Unsatisfied) 2. Multiple choice questions 3. Scaled questions 3. Scaled questions that make use of rating scales such as the Likert Scale. OPEN-ENDED QUESTIONS OPEN-ENDED QUESTIONS have no pre-defined options or categories. OPEN-ENDED QUESTIONS Participants respond to the questions exactly as how they would like to answer them. OPEN-ENDED QUESTIONS The researcher can investigate the meaning of the responses, ideal for qualitative type of research. OPEN-ENDED QUESTIONS This type of questions are time consuming and responses are difficult to interpret. Completely unstructured questions openly ask the Opinion or view of the respondent.
