# GEOGRAPHY 6 Major Agricultural Crops and Development — Case Studies Climate, soil, relief and water availability vary in different parts of the world. This has led to the growth of different types of crops suited to different environmental conditions throughout the world. Agriculture, as you know, provides us with our basic necessities of food and clothing. Some crops are, thus, grown as food crops, some as beverages while some are as fibre crops. These have also promoted agro-based industries. These industries require agricultural crops as raw materials. Climate determines the type of crop. Along with it, the level of development and type of farming influence the quality and quantity of production.
