Philosophy – comes from the Greek words:  Philo – meaning “to love”  Sophia– meaning “wisdom”  Philosophy – “Love of Wisdom”  Philosopher – “Lover of Wisdom” what is PhilosoPhy?  It is also defined as the science that by natural light of reason studies the first causes or highest principles of all things.  It is the study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, value, and existence.  A theory or attitude that acts as a guiding principle for behavior. how Do wE ENGaGE iN PhilosoPhy? Philosophical Questioning. If one is ignorant, he asks questions, if he asks questions he acquires knowledge. Once a person stops questioning, he ceases to become a philosopher. DialECtiC / soCratiC MEthoD It was derived from the Greek philosopher, Socrates. In order to delve into his students’ view, he would ask them questions until any contradictions were exposed.
