## TENSION Tension is the degree or amount of stress placed on the hair. Tension is a major factor in determining the characteristics of the line and shape. ## CUTTING ANGLE The cutting angle is the angle that is being cut into the hair, and how it relates to the base structure and therefore the desired result. ## SECTIONS Sections should mirror the image of the desired geometry for consistent elevation and over-direction. Sections should be appropriately sized to control the hair, as well as fine enough to see the guideline. ### **Vertical Section** Tendency to remove weight ### **Horizontal Section** Tendency to build up weight ### **Diagonal Section** Tendency to direct weight The image shows a diagram with a circle and two intersecting lines. The intersection of the two lines creates four sections: vertical, horizontal, diagonal, and another diagonal section. The different diagonal sections are not described in the text.
