—--Sept 9— Topic: World of Literature (Asian Literature) —--Sept 18—- Groupings and presentation in monday Latin American Literature Drama politics, social injustice, identity, social issues humor, satire, and magical realism Paulina - a woman who was once kidnapped and tortured by the former regime Dr. Miranda - responsible for Paulina's suffering Death and the Maiden - Guide Ques [Summary & Answers] In the story about Death and the Maiden there's a woman named Paulina Salas, a former political prisoner from the Latin American country who was kidnapped and tortured by her captors. She has a husband named Gerardo Escobar. Gerardo Escobar is a very protective person, the reason why he declines taking the offer of becoming the head of a new commission is because he is extremely concerned about the emotional state of his wife, Paulina. He underestimated and thought that the woman is fragile and vulnerable to the cruelty of life when in reality, Paulina is determined to take matters into her own hands to seek some form of justice against the one who has wronged and made her suffer. One of the scenes in the story is when Gerardo returns home from a visit to the president the tire of his car gets flat, moments later he gets helped by a stranger named Dr. Miranda. The twist in the story is that Dr. Miranda is apparently the one who is responsible for Paulina's suffering so later that night Paulina recognizes the voice and mannerism of the one who made her suffer. She decides to take matters into her own hands, kidnaps him, ties him up and demands him to confess everything so she can share it to Gerardo. In the end it was never clear or revealed whether Paulina managed to execute Dr. Miranda but the conclusion of it skips forward in time to see Paulina and Gerardo spending their time together attending a concert. —--Sept 23—- In every nation and the people in it we all share the similar features of a species that may call us human beings yet we are different like every individual around the world experiences different journeys and how we grew up and our own ways on what we learned from it. So for the past millennium, century, decades until this day our ancestors from the past pass their own tradition, culture, beliefs to their descendants to preserve their teachings and for it to last for however long it takes because it is part of human nature, even though it inevitable has some changes the knowledge of human learning every single moment is eternal which ended up shaping our own connections, understanding of self, and find ways to associate with our own culture and where we came from. Example Philippines have their own traditional games like luksong baka, patintero, tiyakad while Japan has Shogi, Hanafuda and many unfamiliar things to foreigners. Topic: African Literature
