# Getting to Know the macOS Desktop (10 of 16) The image shows a macOS desktop with multiple windows open. The window in the foreground is a Finder window. The window in the background is a Mission Control window and it is highlighted. A label at the bottom right says "Figure 10-14 Mission Control allows you to create multiple desktops to contain windows". Mission Control is a feature that displays all of the open windows on the current desktop, along with the windows on all of the other desktops, and allows the user to move windows between desktops by dragging windows to different desktops. - **Drag an open window here to create a new desktop:** This explains how to create a new desktop, by dragging a window to the far right section of the Mission Control window. - **Mission Control allows you to create multiple desktops to contain windows:** This explains what Mission Control does - it creates multiple virtual desktops that allows the user to organize their open windows.
