MURANG’A UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE UNIVERSITY ORDINARY EXAMINATION 2022/2023 ACADEMIC YEAR FIRST YEAR FIRST SEMESTER EXAMINATION FOR BACHELOR OF COMMERCE, HRM, B.E ARTS & BPSM BCB 100: PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICE OF MANAGEMENT. DURATION: 2 HOURS Instructions to candidates: 1. Answer Question One and Any other Two questions. 2. Mobile phones are not allowed in the examination room. 3. You are not allowed to write on this examination question paper. 1 SECTION A: ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS IN THIS SECTION QUESTION ONE (30MARKS) Read the case study and answer the questions below. You have been newly promoted to be the Chief Executive Officer of Kamukunji investment Bank. Kamukunji has been operating in Kenya for a period of 16 years. During this period, the Bank has changed C.E.O five times. The other employees turnover seems to be higher than the normal average employee turnover in the industry. The Board of Directors belied that people should be able to perform any duty assigned to them. Infact employees can get instructions from any supervisor. The Company believes in open door policy and thus employees can officially consult with any manager as long as the manager is free at that particular time. Though you have been working for Kamukunji Investment Bank as a C.E.O for only one year, you have noticed that employees are neither loyal to the organization nor eager to contribute. You are sure that as the C.E.O if you applied some of Fayol’s Management principles the condition will improve. (a) (i) List any FIVE of the 14 principles of Henry Fayol’s which have not been followed (give examples in each case).
