Be able to provide information on TWO of the following pairs. In others words be able to name the works, name the period, describe the work, compare (similarities) and contrast (differences). The Starry Night & The Lilies The Starry Night was a post impressionism art piece created by Vincent Van Gogh, The Starry Night was painted in June 1889 and depicts vivid colors and dramatic motion from the swirly forms in the background. The Lilies was an impressionist art piece created by Monet, The Lilies was painted in 1908 and depicts Monet's expression of what the feeling of being blind and regaining vision may be like. A similarity between both the art pieces is the brush work they both show small and short brush strokes within their painting. A difference between the two is the meaning behind both pieces, The Starry Night is more sad with symbolism of mourning and death whereas The Lilies shows more happiness as it talks about the ability to regain eyesight from being blind. 4.
