LAPULAPU CEBU INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE ## VISUAL ARTS: Medium and Technique in Art ### Medium and Technique **Medium (plural form: media)** - refers to the materials which are used by the artist to create works of art to interpret his feelings or thoughts. - Many materials have been used in creating different works of art. Thus, medium is very essential in the arts. **Technique** - is the way the artist controls the medium to achieve the desired effect. - It is the ability with which the artist fulfills the technical requirements of his work of art. ### Painting In painting, 'media' encompasses the paint type and the surface it's applied to. Artists mix media with solvents, pigments, etc., to create and control paint consistency.
