Collective identification This method depends on special registered marks known as “Trade marks”. These different marks are given to the animal owners of the locality after their agreement and this to prevent any mistakes especially when they send their animals to general markets, for sale and to slaughter houses for slaughtering. Aim of Collective identification It is carried out generally to differentiate between a group or collection of animals of one species such as camels, buffaloes, cows…etc to another group of the same species. Trade marks: that given to the owners vary from one owner to another such as one may choose a red line on the neck, a red circle on the neck, a red line on the quarter and another owner may choose two red lines on the neck, two blue lines on the neck and so on Advantages of Collective identification Collective identification is: 1- simple 2- temporarily. Individual identification Firing Hard to animal may cause scar Tattooing : Simple ,Permanent ,Not hard to the animals. Individual identification is used on several points to differentiate between one animal to another of the same species in the same breed such as dairy cow to another dairy cow standing beside it in the same barn of a herd. Advantages of Individual identification Individual identification is more accurate than collective one because it will remain with the animal. Disadvantages of Individual identification Individual identification is difficult than collective one. It is based on the following points: - Name and number, Colour, Species (Horse, Cow, Buffalo) and breed, Sex (Stallion, mare, calf, colt…etc), Age, Height, Marks on the head, Marks on the body, Marks on the limb, Marks on the mane and tail, General marks, Adventitious marks.
