DR/Asmaa Abdelraof Phylum/ 1-Sarcodina Identification : Entamoeba histolytica (Trophozoites) Cause or reason : 1-The presence of ingested erythrocytes is the characteristics feature of E. histolytica. 2-Nucleus is single, spherical in shape it has a fine peripheral chromatin and central karyosome. 3-Trophozoites are actively motile with the help of their pseudopodia. Classification : Phylum: Sarcodina spp :Entamoeba histolytica Identification : Entamoeba histolytica (cyst) (infective stage) Amoebic dysentery Cause or reason : 1-Cytoplasm is granular and contains rod-like chromatid bars. 2- The mature cyst contains four nuclei (quadrinucleated cyst). 3-surrounded by a cyst wall. 4-no RBCs or food particles. Classification : Phylum: Sarcodina spp :Entamoeba histolytica Identification : Giardia lamblia (trophozoites) /G.duodenalis/G.Intestinalis disease/ (diarrheal illness) Cause or reason : 1-Trophozoites are binucleated (look like a face) 2- 8 flagella (2 anterior – 2 posterior – 2 ventral – 2 caudal) all arise from kinetosome. 3-Ventral surface bears adhesive disc to adhere to surface of intestinal cell. Classification : Phylum : Mastigophora=Flagellates spp :Giardia lamblia Identification :Trypanosoma brucei Disease :(Sleeping Sickness) Cause or reason : 1-The flagellum is attached to cell membrane forming an undulating membrane 2-. Has elongated body have a streamlined and tapered shape 3-From the basal body arise a single flagellum that run toward anterior end Classification : Phylum : Mastigophora= Flagellates: spp :Trypanosoma brucei Identification :Malarial trophozoites Cause or reason : generally ring shaped Classification : Phylum : Sporozoa spp :Plasmodium malaria Identification :Fasciola Hepatica. Cause or reason : 1-leaf-shaped, pointed at the (anteriorly), and wide in the (posteriorly) 2-. The oral sucker is small but powerful and is located at the top of a cone-shape projection. ventrally is a larger sucker than the oral sucker. 3- has no anus. Classification : Class : Trematode. spp :Fasciola Hepatica. Identification : Schistosoma Cause or reason : 1- has long groove –GYNECOPHORIC CANAL- in which females are held 2-females are longer than males. 3-Schistosoma have two separate sexes Classification : Class : Trematode. spp :Schistosoma Identification : Taenia solium Taenia solium (scolex) Taenia solium (Gravid Proglottids) Cause or reason : 1-flatworm can grow in length from 2 to 6 meters. 2-It consists of four cup-like muscular suckers. Rostellum is armed with hooks in 2 circles. 3- (7-13) uterine branches on one side Classification : Class: Cestode spp :Taenia solium Identification : Taenia saginata. Taenia saginata (scolex). Taenia saginata (Gravid Proglottids). Cause or reason : 1-This flatworm can grow in length from 4 to 12 meters. 2-It consists of four cup-like muscular suckers. Taenia saginata does not have any hooks or rostellum on its scolex. 3- In Gravid proglottids 15-30 uterine branches on one side. Classification : Class: Cestode. spp :Taenia saginata. Identification : Ascaris fertilized egg. Ascaris male. Ascaris female. Cause or reason : 1- male characterized by Prescence Curved posterior end 2-. The body is long, cylindrical, and fusiform (pointed at both the ends). 3- Males are usually shorter than females and more slender than the female 4-Fertilized eggs are round-shaped have a thick shell with an external mammillated layer. Classification : Phylum : Nematoda (Round worms) spp :Ascaris Identification :Ancylostoma duodenale (Hookworm) Ancylostoma duodenale egg Cause or reason : 1-Males are smaller than females and possess a bursa at their posterior end.(copulatory bursa) 2- Cylindrical with the head bent sharply backwards. 3- 2 pairs of curved teeth on the wall of its buccal capsule Classification : Phylum : Nematoda (Round worms) spp : Ancylostoma duodenale (Hookworm) Identification :Leech=medicinal leech= Hirudo medicinalis Cause or reason : 1-The dorsal side is dark brown to black, bearing six longitudinal, reddish or brown stripes. 2-. the ventral surface is speckled. 3-. It bear a posterior and anterior sucker. Classification : Phylum :ANNELIDA Class : Hirudinea spp :Leech Venomous and Poisonous arthropods Scorpion anatomy: 1 = Cephalothorax. 2 = Abdomen. 3 = Tail. 4 = Claws. 5 = Legs. 6 = Mouth parts. 7 = pincers. 8 = Moveable claw. 9 = Fixed claw. 10 = Stinger 11= Telson : contains two poisonous glands with independent ducts (venom apparatus) leading to the terminal stinger. Identification : Scolopendra Scolopendra gigantea (Giant Centipede) Scolopendra cingulata Cause or reason : 1-The multiped body is long, worm-like dorsoventrally flattened and divisible into a head and a trunk 2-it ranges from dark brown to reddish-brown and the legs are olive- green with yellow claws largest species of centipede length up to about 30cm 3- Egyptian Centipede grows to an adult length of 8 to 10cm. the species has alternating bands of black and yellow-gold. Classification : Phylum : Arthropoda Subphylum: mandibulate, class :Chilopoda spp :??? Identification :“Branchiostoma” (Amphiouxus) Cause or reason : 1-Notochord and nerve cord lie dorsally along the entire length of thebbody throughout the whole life the Organism. 2-. Body is bilaterally compressed. 3-. Fish like small marine animal with protruded anterior rostrum. Classification : Phylum: CHORDATA Subphylum : Cephalochordata: spp :Branchiostoma” (Amphiouxus) Identification :Petromyzon marinus - (Sea Lamprey) Cause or reason : 1-Presence of seven pairs of gills, each opens externally by a gill slit 2-Presence of a circular mouth with no jaws 3-Cylindrical, eel-like animals Classification : Phylum :CHORDATA Subphylum :Vertebrata Super class : Agnatha class: Cyclostomata spp :Petromyzon marinus - (Sea Lamprey) Classification : Phylum : CHORDATA subphylum : Vertebrata Class: Chondrichthyes (Elasmobranchii) Cartilaginous Fishes spp : ???
