CI/CP-2/1.18 Duties of Dy. SS (Commercial), Commercial Inspector and Supervisors. Duties of Dy. Station Superintendent (Commercial) 1) Should report for duty at right time in prescribed uniform badge, name plate and identity card. 2) Should be aware of all extant commercial rules and regulations like Refund Rules, Circular Journey Ticket, Break Journey Rules, Rules for endorsement on tickets, etc. 3) Should keep himself aware of the running status of the trains and maintain close liaison with station master and Dy.SS operating for quick Redressal of passengers grievances/ quiries. 4) Should always be alert and try to take action promptly to redress grievances of the passengers at station and on-board train and provide all possible assistance to the passenger as per extant guidelines 5) Should monitor the complaint book and analyse the reasons for the complaints. 6) Should maintain Shift Diary indicating all the activities performed. 7) Provide wheel chairs/ stretchers to needy passengers on demand and ensure to collect the same after use. 8) Should monitor functioning of all passenger amenities like water taps, water coolers, water supply arrangements, waiting rooms, retiring rooms, announcement, coach guidance, various signage boards, lifts, escalators, Divyangjan amenities, etc. and advice the deficiencies if any to the concern departments and get the deficiencies rectified. 9) Duties in case of unusual circumstances/ cancellation of trains – i. To endorse tickets of passengers. ii. To open ‘May I Help You’ booth in coordination with ticket checking staff. iii. To give proper assistance to the passengers and assist them for refund, if any. 10) In case of any untoward incidence, he should report immediately to the CCOR and commercial officers and issue required memos. 11) Crowd Management – in case of overcrowding, he should take all possible efforts to manage the same by taking assistance from TC staff, RPF and others. 12) He should ensure proper allotment and extension of retiring rooms 13) To take action against unauthorised vendors. 14) If any improper stacking of parcel is noticed the concern parcel staff should be informed for proper stacking. 15) On receipt of message for ‘Doctor Call’ from CCOR, he should inform concern medical officer and escort him to the passenger. 16) He should ensure presence of Sahayaks ( licensed Porters) and also ensure complaint free functioning of sahayaks as well as Battery Operated Cars. 129 17) Should attend Officers/VIPs visiting on station. 18) Any other duties assigned by commercial officers in addition to above. Duties of Commercial Inspectors & Supervisors – 1) To check up whether a high standard of cleanliness is being maintained at platforms, in retiring rooms, in waiting rooms, waiting halls, bathrooms, lavatories, in restaurants, refreshment rooms, booking offices, godown, etc. 2) To observe whether the commercial staff are prompt, alert, civil and obliging and paying adequate attention to comforts and conveniences of railway users. 3) To check up whether the commercial staff are fully conversant with the rules and regulations required for the performance of their duties. 4) To see whether the rules and instructions laid down for the booking, handling, despatch, storage and delivery of the various items of traffic including explosive and other dangerous goods are being carefully observed. 5) To see whether the rules and instructions prescribed for prevention of loss of or damage to consignments are properly observed. 6) To check if adequate steps are taken for connecting the unconnected Goods. 7) To see whether the adequate arrangements exist for prevention of leakage of railway revenues through ticketless travel, misdecia ration, under weighment or any other cause. 8) To see whether proper attention is being paid to the clearance of station outstanding. 9) To see that initial records and documents at station are maintained properly and in accordance with the extant rules and orders, and that the various returns are being submitted to traffic account office on due dates. 10) To see whether the procedure prescribed for handling, taking and making over of cash at the station is being rigidly followed by the staff concerned under appropriate security arrangements. 11) To examine if any loss or leakage of railway revenue is taking place through evasion, misinterpretation or abuse of rules. 12) To examine and analyse the causes of diversion of traffic, if any, to other means of transport. 13) To examine whether any improvements in the methods of working at the station are required to maintain efficiency, courtesy and alertness and to sustain as well as to retrieve the traffic diverting to other sources of transportation. 130
