Spiritual self can be expeessed through one's religion Practices, rituals and ceremonies are manifestation of what people believe in. RELIGION The belief in and worship of a superhuman controlliny power, specially a personal God or god. An individual livess in a society where there are many practices of religion. The choice if a religious belief lies within a self. Althought,the choice may be RITUAL The performance of cermonial acts as prescribe by tradition or sacred law Ritual is a specific and observable mode of behavior exhibited by all known society C H A RA C T E R I S T I C O F RITUAL 1. A feeling of respect or dread in relation to sacred; 2. Dependence upon a belief system; 3. Symbol to its reference MAJOR RELEGIONS O THE WORLD BUDDHISM Buddhism is originated in ancient northest india Buddhism is a tradition that focuses on personal spiritual development. Fourth largest religion in the world Buddhism seek to reach the state of nirvana, following the path of buddha, Siddartha Gautama BUDDHISM Dharmachakra wheel symbolizes the cycle of life, death and rebirth. It is also the most difficult to understand az hindus may be athiest, monotheist or polytheists Originated in Northern India about 4000 years ago sacred text is Vedas and HINDUISM Aum is the main symbol of hinduism.It is the sound heard in the dipest meditation and is said to be the name most suited for God. Diwali symbolizes the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowlegde over ignorance Navratri- is nine nights Hindu festival. It is observed for triumph ofgood over evil ISLAM Islam is an abrhamic,monothiestic religion teaching that there is only one God- Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of God The arabic word 'Islam' means submission and obedience amlnd derives from a word meaning 'peace' I S L A M P RA C T I C E S Salat- the prayers that is practice five times a day Haji- the yearly pilgrimage to mecca Sawm- the fasting from food, drinks, and sexual act during ramadan. The fasting is from dawn to sunset Eidul-ftr- the celebration at the end of ramadan UDAISM Judaism is the oldest of the world four monothiestic religion.
