For example: 1. National planning, financial factors and capacity. 2. Availability of data about the target population and intervention impacts. 3. Influence of socio-economic factors and special considerations regarding the age of target population. The General Factors 4. Burden of the health problem to community, family and individual. 5. Use of intervention in a multi-factorial setting. 6. Communication strategies to reach vulnerable and minority groups. 7. Engagement of all levels of the community (from government to individual) in the process. Specific Factors • These are three groups: 1. Factors related to audiences. 2. Factors related to the health educator. 3. Factors related to the environment. 1- Factors Related to Audiences 1.1. Demographic Factors: A. Age: try to choose community audience with similar age group. B. Gender: try to choose community audience with similar gender (either all of them male or all of them female). • Because there will always be speeches that are more interesting to men than to women and vice versa. 1- Factors Related to Audiences 1.1. Demographic Factors: C. Racial/Ethnic/Religious/Cultural Background Try to choose community audience with similarities. • You expect that many audiences may come from different countries, ethnic grounds, etc. 1- Factors Related to Audiences 1.2. Group Membership: and this is very common in professional business lives; be sure to focus on issues relevant to this group; what their interests and needs are. 1- Factors Related to Audiences 1.3. Audience Size: In general, the larger the audience, the more formal we should be in language and delivery. • Smaller audiences' size will allow a more relaxed presentation style. 1- Factors Related to Audiences 1.4. Audience's Time: try to choose most appropriate time for the audiences. And always adapt your time according to their time. 2- Factors Related to the Health Educator 2.1. Selection of the topic: should be interested by the audiences. 2.2. Personal factors of the health educator: Health educator should be: Sincere Has a good skill in demonstrating his knowledge. Show respect for the audience. Has Credibility. Should not deliver a topic that is insulting to the audience or makes them feel uncomfortable. 3- Factors Related To The Environment The Physical Setting or Location plays an important role in delivering community health education. • Location can have a significant impact on health educator and his audiences' attitude. 3- Factors Related To The Environment • Determine if you need overhead projector, blackboard, chalks, microphone, flipchart, lighting, and AC system is working well. • Try to minimize background noise and interruption of the education.
