Abi Bakr El Kadiri High School 2 BAC/ GRMMAR : Gerund, Bare Infinitive , and Full Infinitive Instr. Abdelkarim F. A high-achieving and gifted young girl, Nadia is a promising international student at Harvard, one of America’s top universities. She’d obtained a full scholarship to enroll in a Master’s program there. One day, she was invited to a party honoring new international students on campus. Nadia is a reserved type of person, however. Also, she’s not as gifted and high-achieving when it comes to making new friends and remembering names. As she looked at the invitation, part of her kept saying, “ I won’t know anyone there! How can I remember all those new names ?” Her problem is not unusual, though. Remembering is a common problem for many of us. So, for her, it’s even harder to recall unfamiliar foreign names. What can Nadia and people like her do ? Here are some tips : 1. Decide to remember. Making an effort can help a lot. 2. Listen carefully when you hear someone’s name for the first time. It’s important to pay attention. 3. Try to repeat the name many times. Calling the person by name more than once helps you fix the name in your mind. 4. You should write the name down. Writing is a common memory aid. 5. Don’t be afraid of asking the person to repeat the name. Most people don’t mind doing So. 6. Stop worrying. Anxiety only makes the problem seem worse. A.
