The name refers to the Maranao people's ancestral homeland around Lake Lanao in the – the second largest lake in the Philippines. Literatur The DARANGEN which means e "to narrate in a song," predates the Islamization of the Philippines in the fourteenth century and is part of a larger epic culture linked to early Sanskrit traditions. DANCES SINGKIL is a Maranao dance performed by Princess Gandingan, showcasing her agility as a woman. It tells the story of her escape from an earthquake caused by Diwatas, with bamboo poles clicking to represent DANCES KAGANAT SA DARANGEN is the most aristocratic of the Maranao traditional dances and it should be performed by someone who has the aptitude to move theatrical.
