**Morning SO!** Today we wanted to push out some training on 1^st^ amendment auditors. If you aren't already aware we have had a couple of auditors by Parr and the training center recently. There is even a nice video that was posted by the individual that came to dispatch. Reno has also had some difficulties with auditors over the last year or so. With that being said please review the below NRS (171.1233) it came into effect in 2020 and covers the recording of law enforcement activity. I have also attached a previous training that covers public demonstrations and the 1^st^ amendment (SOP 301.3) **More often than not these auditors want to draw you into an argument. Do not get into debates with them! If they aren't doing anything illegal leave them alone. If they are doing something illegal treat them just as you would any other citizen.** The Moral of the story Be aware, be professional, know your legal authority, and know their rights. **   NRS 171.1233  Recording of law enforcement activity.**       1.  A person who is not under arrest or in the custody of a peace officer may record a law enforcement activity and maintain custody and control of that recording and any property or instruments used by the person to record a law enforcement activity.
