YOUR TIME Let’s talk through some suggestions. CALENDAR MANAGEMENT Use your inbox as a to-do list Create sub-folders in your inbox, file emails away once you “INBOX ZERO” have addressed it Send yourself emails as a reminder/task GOAL SETTING Benefits of Goal Setting: Provides direction and focus Increases motivation and commitment Enhances performance and productivity Promotes accountability PROCRASTINATION Why do we procrastinate? PROC RASTIN ATI ON Procrastination is NOT laziness. According to Fuschia Sirois & colleagues, it is about MOOD REGULATION. What sort of feelings are we avoiding? How are we regulating our moods through procrastination? Self-Compassion: Remind yourself it is part of the human condition, and it is okay. RE DU CIN G P RO C RAST INAT ION Ask yourself these 4 questions: (1) Emotion: how will you feel if you fall behind? (2) Vision: what would a productive person do? (3) Plan: what one thing can you do to finish on time? (4) Progress: what's the next small step? MANAGING BOUNDARIES Think Not “work-life “work-life boundaries” balance” More on Boundaries Must be held with yourself and others but the needs will change over time Helps prevent burnout, and increases your emotional well being, job satisfaction and productivity! First, figure out what your boundaries are. Use your calendar as a boundary enforcer. TIPS FOR Communicate your boundaries to others. MANAGING Stick to your boundaries. Minimize interactions with toxic people. JOB CRAFTING Job crafting – A technique individual employees can use to proactively shape their careers to better align with their strengths, motivations, and passions! JOB CRAFTING Task crafting – Changes people make to either the type or amount of work they do. They can take personal initiative to add or drop tasks, change the way they work, and/or change the timing of their tasks. Relationship crafting – Changes in who people work with and how they communicate with them. Cognitive crafting – refers to the way people change their perspective about how they view or relate to their work to experience it as more meaningful. JOB CRAFTING Environmental crafting – refers to changes in where people work and aspects of the work environment that can enhance wellbeing and performance. Developmental crafting – refers to efforts to acquire more skills and resources and to use one’s full set of skills regularly to improve well-being and performance. WHAT DEPLETES YOU?
