What you need to know when it’s your time to compete 1. Arrive Early – Be at the interview suites 10 minutes before your scheduled competition time. 2. Wait in Line – After waiting in the “bullpen”, you will be directed to stand outside your assigned room. Each room will have a volunteer timer stationed outside. 3. Entering the Room – A supervisor at the end of the hall (Jen, Ella, Kirsten) will count down from 5. When they reach 1, that is your signal to knock on the door and enter to begin your role-play. a. Your 20-minute timer starts as soon as you knock. What you need to know when it’s your time to compete 4. Time Warnings – a. Your timer will knock at 19 minutes to give you a one-minute warning. b. They will knock again at 20 minutes, signaling the end of your role-play (you must stop immediately, even if you haven’t closed). 5. Feedback Session – Once your role-play ends, your buyer and judges will provide 5 minutes of feedback. 6. Exit and Transition – After receiving feedback, exit the room, and the next competitor will begin. Volunteers Volunteers A volunteer meeting will be held at 7:30 AM in the Eship Lab (lunchroom next to Panera). Each volunteer will be assigned a specific job for a designated time slot, but you are required to be present and ready to assist throughout the entire competition. Detailed job descriptions can be found on the following slides. Timers Each competition room will have an assigned timer responsible for keeping track of time. Start your phone timer as soon as the competitor knocks on the door. Follow these knocking cues: ○ At 19:00 minutes → Knock once to signal one minute remaining. ○ At 20:00 minutes → Knock again to indicate the round is over (the competitor must stop immediately). ○ At 25:00 minutes → Knock and inform the seller that the next round will begin shortly. During the Role-Play, Remember: Keep your voice low → You must not speak louder than a whisper or in a way that competitors can hear you. You may bring → Laptops and headphones are allowed. Watchers All students will store their coats, backpacks, and other personal items in the Eship Lab, which will serve as the designated storage area and lunchroom. You will work in shifts to monitor the stored belongings while competitors are participating in the event. Cleaners Volunteers will be needed to pick up trash in the multipurpose room, the lunch room, and in the pavilion This will make tear down much quicker at the end of the day Bullpen Masters Proactively roundup competitors and remind them to head to the interview suites before the 10-minute arrival requirement. At the 10-minute mark, check the bullpen to see if any competitors have not yet arrived Walk around and find any competitors who have not reported on time. Career Fair/Passport Table Collection Ensure that all students pick up and turn in their career fair passports. (will have a table/seats outside multi-purpose room) Verify that each passport has the student’s name printed on it and contains the required number of initials/signatures.
