ADVOCACY Is a process of supporting and enabling people to express their views and concerns, access information and services, defend and promote their rights and responsibilities. GLOBAL DIGITAL DIVIDE Describes the unequal distribution of information and communication technology across nations. “gap between information haves and have-nots”. 01 THE ROLE OF ICT IN THE RECENT HISTORY EDSA (PEOPLE POWER REVOLUTION) A major protest that took place along EDSA from Feb. 22 to 25, 1986 involving 2 million Filipinos from different sectors. During a radio broadcast of Radyo Veritas, Cardinal Sin encouraged the Filipinos to help end the regime of then President Ferdinand Marcos. EDSA II (EDSA DOS) Also known as 2001 EDSA Revolution. Happened during Jan 17-21, 2001 It was a peaceful protest that led to the removal of then-President Joseph "Erap" Estrada due to allegations of corruption. It was a vital tool for people across the globe to track the situation of their relatives. 02 CHANGE.ORG CHANGE.ORG Dubbed as the “WORLD’S PLATFORM FOR CHANGE”. Change.org is an online platform where people can create and sign petitions to raise awareness and demand action on specific issues. When the petition reaches a certain number of signatures, it is presented to the local government to convince them to approve the project. 03 DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP Refers to the utilization of information technology in order to engage in society, politics, and government. Those who use the internet regularly and effectively. DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP ELEMENTS 1. DIGITAL ACCESS Everyone has equal access to technology and the internet. It’s important for fairness, as not everyone has the same resources or opportunities to use technology. 2. DIGITAL COMMERCE This involves buying and selling things online, like shopping on websites or making online payments. Being aware of safe practices is key to avoid fraud or scams. 3. DIGITAL COMMUNICATION It refers to how we use the internet to communicate with others, like sending emails, messaging, or posting on social media. It’s important to be respectful and clear when communicating online. 4. DIGITAL LITERACY Knowing how to use technology and understanding how to find, evaluate, and create digital content responsibly. 5. DIGITAL ETTIQUETE This refers to the rules for behaving properly and respectfully online, just like in real life. It includes things like being polite, not spamming, and using appropriate language. 6. DIGITAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS It focuses on taking care of yourself when using technology, including balancing screen time and protecting your mental and physical health. 9. DIGITAL SECURITY It involves protecting your devices and personal information from online threats, like hackers or viruses. Using strong passwords and safe websites is part of it.
