    • DSLAM aggregates connections from many customers onto a single, high-capacity connection to the Internet.

    AN-2000 IB Solution

    • Offers unlimited scalability, building out the network as needed with a modular, high-density architecture that scales from 24 to 2,424 subscribers per system.
    • Provides an open interface, interoperating with third-party gear and networks as needed, and supporting multiple xDSL standards.
    • Enables new revenue-generating services, such as IP multicasting for video and value-added services, and delivers always-on broadband data and video, high-speed Internet access, VPNs, distance learning, and enterprise networking.
    • Offers high-speed remote access, providing satellite-to-headquarters connectivity for business customers with an economical high-speed LAN-interface solution.

    Subscriber Isolation

    • The ISM provides subscriber isolation at both layer two and layer three, preventing cross-talk between DSL subscribers and forwarding all subscriber traffic to the aggregation router.
    • At layer two, the AN-2000 IP-DSLAM ensures that two subscribers cannot communicate with each other without going through the upstream aggregation router, even if they are in the same bridge group.
    • At layer three, VRDs provide subscriber isolation, applying priority queuing and traffic policing to each VLAN to ensure conformance to the SLA provided to the VPN subscribers.

    Network Architecture

    • The AN-2000 IP-DSLAM chassis consists of two controller slots and 16 network/line module slots for user data traffic.
    • The slots can contain three types of modules: Internet Concentration Modules (ICM), IP Service Modules (ISM), and Line Card Modules (L/C).
    • The ICM provides Ethernet switching capability, aggregating upstream traffic from DSL line cards to the WAN uplink and segregating downstream traffic from the WAN to DSL line cards.
    • The ISM provides B-RAS functionality and WAN uplink through its Ethernet and ATM interfaces.
    • The L/C comprises 24 DSL ports for DSL connections to subscriber CPE.

    Network-Layer VPNs

    • The ISM supports three types of network-layer VPNs: L2TP, IP-IP, and IP-GRE.
    • Subscriber traffic is transported by VPN tunnels when it leaves the DSLAM.
