Wall Furring Installation
- Fasteners should be spaced 24 inches apart, staggered, through alternate flanges of the furring channel.
- Furring channel's long dimension should be at right angles to insulating board.
- End joints should be staggered.
- Screws should be spaced 12 inches apart along the furring channel, no closer than 2 inches from the edges.
- Power-driven screw guns should be used.
- Screws should be inset slightly below the board surface.
- Joints and screw heads should be treated according to manufacturer's instructions.
- Furring channels should be mitered for masonry corners.
- Two 45° cuts should be made in the flange with sheet-metal snips. The web should not be cut, but bent.
- The cut edges of the flange should touch to form the corner.
- For metal windows, furring channels should be attached horizontally around masonry corners, mitered.
