    UPRA Director Positions

    • Eight Director Positions for each contest event as sanctioned by the Association
    • One Director position representing Judges, Contract Performers, Stock Contractors and Queen Coordinator
    • Elected by popular vote of members participating in that event

    UPRA Executive Committee

    • Consists of the President, Vice-President, General Manager/Treasure, Rough Stock Director, Timed Event Director and an at-large member

    UPRA Election Process

    • Association to publish a nomination ballot and deadline date 30 days before official publication
    • Voting ballot will be published 30 days after nomination ballot publication
    • Voting will be conducted via US mail, verified by member signature and postmark

    UPRA Spokesman

    UPRA Passes

    UPRA Rainout Procedures

    • Contestants competing that night with intent to draw out must advise the rodeo Secretary
    • In the case of a rainout on the last performance, contestants can vote whether to contest or not, majority rules (51%)

    • Stock Contractor or committee has authority for postponement and/or final say

    UPRA Rodeo Application

    • Rodeos seeking sanction from the UPRA must submit an application at least 60 days before the event

    UPRA Membership Card Misuse

    • Any UPRA member or contestant who misuses their membership card and/or contest number pass is subject to a $50.00 fine

    UPRA Timed Events

    • If a calf/steer gets out of the arena, the flag man must stop the time and the roper will get the same calf back, with their original time plus the time elapsed when the calf got out
    • If a contestant is given the wrong calf/steer, they will be given the correct one and the time on the incorrect animal will be disregarded
    • No re-runs for hanging of horns on the chute
    • No re-runs due to default or breakage of a contestant's equipment

    UPRA Drawing of Livestock

    • All stock must be branded with a legible number, no duplicates
    • If an animal is disqualified after the draw, a new animal will be drawn for the contestant from the balance of animals not already drawn or from the re-ride pen
    • The re-draw will be done by the misdraw method, affecting the least amount of people
    • All stock and positions will be drawn and posted at one time
    • All stock must be drawn with poker chips for each individual animal in each event at every UPRA sanctioned rodeo
    • All runs must be kept even on all timed event cattle

    UPRA Calf/Steer Misdraw

    • If a contestant receives the wrong calf, they will receive the correct one and the time of the incorrect calf will be disregarded
    • If a calf gets up or comes untied in Tie Down Roping, the Judge will show the stop watch time to the contestant

    UPRA Timed Events Horse Rules

    • Contestants riding the same horse in the same position must ask to be split when possible
    • A $25 fine will be imposed if contestants do not make an effort to advise the secretary

    UPRA Timed Event Cattle Replacement

    • If cattle need to by changed, two members will go with the Director of the event as witness to tell the Producer to take out or replace one or more head of stock
    • Producer may be fined at least $50.00 if they do not comply

    UPRA Timed Event Cattle Ownership

    • Stock belongs to the contestant once they have called for it

    UPRA Timed Event Minimum Cattle

    • A minimum of 3 head of steer/calves must be penned when bringing cattle back

    UPRA Timed Event Barrier Judge

    • Must ensure no one stands too close to the barrier or equipment to tamper with it
    • Failure to comply results in the judge being declared ineligible

    UPRA Timed Event Cattle Pushers

    • Individual pushing the cattle cannot leave the mouth of the chute until the animal has crossed the score line
    • Penalty for failure to abide by this rule is a $25.00 fine to the contestant

    UPRA Timed Event Helper

    • A helper cannot aid in or restrain a horse in the box during competition, resulting in disqualification

    UPRA Disqualifications

    • Contestants turning out stock are disqualified from all events for the remainder of the rodeo, except if the stock was mounted, roped, or wrestled at the contestant’s expense
    • Any member tampering with competition livestock will be disqualified from that particular rodeo
    • A contestant may be disqualified for any of the following offenses within the rodeo grounds: rowdyism, using rigging that is over 10 inches in width, not having a leather covering pad on the entire underside of the Bareback rigging

    UPRA Bareback Riding Rules

    • Riders may use their own rigging as long as it meets the specifications
    • Riders may use dry rosin or tape on the handhold and glove only
    • Horses will be ridden for 8 seconds
    • Contestants have the right to call Judges Pass on whether or not the horse was properly flanked and cinched
    • Riders must have spurs over the break of the horse’s shoulders and touching the horse when horse’s feet hit the ground on the first jump
    • If a horse stalls coming out of the chute, either Judge may tell the rider to take their feet out of the horse’s neck and spur the horse in the belly
    • Horses are not to be hot shot until turned completely out of the chute, unless requested by the rider
    • Time will start when the horse leaves the plane of the chute
    • There is no ground money
    • If only one qualified ride occurs, the qualifying contestant receives all of the money
    • Judges must carry a flag, if the rider fails to mark the horse out of the chute, a flag must be thrown to signal disqualification
    • If the flank comes off or breaks before the 8 second ride is complete, the rider is entitled to a re-ride as long as they make a qualified ride
    • The rider cannot have a hand in the rigging while it is being pulled
    • Contestants must be above the animal with their glove on when the previous horse exits the arena, failing to do so results in disqualification
    • Contestants are subject to a $25.00 fine, and have a 45 second time limit to leave the chute if they are not ready to compete after being properly notified
    • Riders who are fouled at the chute or when the horse falls out of the chute are entitled to a re-ride at the discretion of the Judges
