Study Notes

Non-Resident Students

  • Non-resident students shall be affiliated to Halls of Residence by the Registrar.

Management of Halls of Residence

  • Halls of Residence and other residential facilities are managed by a Hall Council, subject to University rules and the respective Hall Constitution.
  • The Hall Council is the governing body of each Hall of Residence.
  • The Hall Master/Hall Warden is the Head of the Hall and is responsible for the administration of the Hall.

University Property

  • Students are liable to pay for any loss or damage to University property of any kind caused by students.
  • Students may not make attachments to or transfer furniture or fixtures of any kind from any part of the University without prior permission from the Dean of Students or the appropriate authority.
  • Students must not interfere with electrical installations in their cubicles, Halls, or any other part of the University.

The Student Representative Council (SRC)

  • The SRC is the legitimate representative organ of the student body as a whole.
  • The University does not recognize any body or organization outside the University that purports to speak on behalf of the students.
  • The SRC makes representations to the University authorities on matters affecting students.
  • The SRC is governed by a Constitution approved by the University Academic Board.

Sports Union

  • The Sports Union is the body responsible for the regulation of all students' sporting activities in which the University participates.

University Governance

  • The Academic Board makes presentations to the University Council on any matter connected with the University.
  • The Academic Board has additional functions conferred on it by statutes enacted by the University Council.
  • There are committees of the University Academic Board that make recommendations to it for approval.

Welfare Services Board

  • The Welfare Services Board is responsible to the Council through the Vice Chancellor.
  • The Board's functions include making reports and recommendations on matters affecting the estate and welfare services within the University.

Student Affairs

  • The Student Representative Council (SRC) is the recognized student body of the University.
  • The SRC controls all student activities organized by clubs and societies.
