- Each individual is unique, there is no other person in the world exactly like you.
- God made man and each one is unique.
- We are unique because of our physical characteristics like fingerprints, toe prints, and tongue prints.
- We are also unique because of the environment we grew up in, as each community has different customs and ideas.
- Our families also influence our uniqueness, each family has different ideas, behaviors, characteristics and personalities.
Terms and Concepts
- Uniqueness: Being the only one of its kind.
- Individuality: The quality or character of a person that makes them different from others.
- Characteristics: A feature or quality belonging typically to a person, place or thing. Some characteristics of a person are: Neat, tall, thick, athletic, humorous, brave, strong, kind, and honest.
- Personality: The combination of characteristics or qualities that form an individual’s distinct character.
- Individual differences: Characteristics that vary from person to person, for example: height, weight, personality, and intelligence.
Heredity and Environment
- Every human being is a product of both heredity and environment.
- Heredity: The physical and psychological traits we inherit from our biological parents and other ancestors. Genes are responsible for transmitting these traits.
- Environment: The social and physical surroundings in which you grow up. This contributes to learned behaviors and attitudes.
