**Personal Development** ------------------------ **Oral question questions:** Who are you? What makes me a unique individual? **Start of Note.** **Who Am I?** I am a unique individual Genesis 2:7-25. God made man and each one is unique. **Personal Identity** You are a unique individual. There is nobody in the world like you, not even if you're a twin or triplet. From your fingertips, toe prints and even your tongue; nobody that ever existed has the same ones as you. That makes you very special. We are also different because of the areas we grew up in. Each community has its own customs and ideas. The same goes for our families. We each have different ideas, behaviour, characteristics and personalities. ***Terms and Concept*** 1. **Uniqueness** - being the only one of its kind. 2. **Individuality** -- the quality or character of a person that makes them different from other people. 3. **Characteristics** -- a feature or quality belonging typically to a person, place or thing. Some characteristics of a person are: Neat, Tall, Thick, Athletic, Humorous, Brave, Strong, Kind and Honest. 4. **[Personality]** -- The combination of characteristics or qualities that form an individual's distinct character. 5. **[Individual differences]** -- Characteristics that vary from person to person, for example; height, weight, personality and intelligence. **Class Activity :** In pair discuss 2 characteristics that are the same and two that are different. Every human being is a product of: 1. **Heredity** (the physical and psychological traits that we inherit in our genes from our biological parents and other ancestors. **Genes** are responsible for transmitting the traits from parents and other ancestors to an individual.) 2. **Environment** (the social and physical surroundings in which you grow up. This is learnt behaviours and attitudes.) **CONCEPT MAP** **Activity** **Write a short paragraph on:** **2 ways in which heredity has influenced who you are.** **2 ways in which your environment has influenced who you are.** **Individuality** **Individuality** is the quality or character of a particular person or thing that distinguishes them from others. Dimensions of The Self 1. ( Physical characteristics that others can see when they look at you) (Physical characteristics that cannot be seen, example blood type or health condition) (Physical characteristics that describe your capabilities, e.g. Fast) 2. 3. 4. **[5.Ethical Self]** -- Values (principles that guide the decisions we make and the way we live) and morals of an individual. **ASSIGNMENT 1** **Draw or print and stick an individual picture of yourself in the middle of a page in your book and state 10 or more characteristics/traits about yourself.
