STIs
- STIs are caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungi
- Chlamydia is caused by bacteria. Mostly no symptoms, but sometimes pain while urinating and discharge from penis or vagina. Treated with antibiotics. If you don't know you have it, you could pass it on to someone else and it can cause damage to the reproductive system.
- Genital warts are caused by HPV. Symptoms are small bumps around the genital area (and they can be frozen off with liquid nitrogen). These warts increase the chances of cervical cancer. This can be prevented by using condoms and getting a HPV vaccine.
