Camera Angles
- Eye Level Angle: a camera perspective that creates a sense of direct confrontation or engagement with the viewer
- High Angle: taken from above the subject, looking down, making the subject seem vulnerable or insignificant
- Low-Angle Shot: taken from below the eye line, pointing upward, creating a sense of power
- Oblique/Dutch Angle: tilted to one side, creating a sense of disorientation or unease
- Aerial Shot: an elevated view of an object or location from a steep viewing angle, creating a bird's-eye view
Symbolic Codes
- Symbols are easily understood and can convey meaning, such as a red rose symbolizing romance or a clenched fist symbolizing anger

Written Codes
- Written codes are formal written language used in a media product
- Written codes include printed language (text within the frame) and spoken language (dialogue and song lyrics)
Technical Codes
- Technical codes are ways in which equipment is used to tell the story in a media text
- Camera Shots:
- Extreme Long Shot (ELS) / Extreme Wide Shot (EWS): taken from a great distance, showing landscapes, cityscapes, or large crowd scenes
- Long Shot (LS) / Wide Shot (WS): shows the entire object or human figure in relation to its surroundings
- Full Shot (FS): frames the subject's entire body from head to toe
- Medium Long Shot (MLS): frames the subject from roughly the knees up
- Medium Shot (MS): shows a part of the subject in more detail
