Epithelium Types
Stratified Cuboidal Epithelium
- Thin layer of cuboidal cells, typically 2-3 layers thick
- Found in lining of excretory ducts, such as salivary and sweat glands
- Relatively rare occurrence
Transitional Epithelium
- Composed of large, cuboidal cells with convex, dome-shaped surfaces
- Can be binucleated, containing two nuclei in one cell
- Found in the urinary system, from the renal pelvis to the urethra
- Characterized by ability to stretch and change shape, allowing it to accommodate changes in volume of urine in the bladder
Learn about different types of epithelium tissue, including stratified cuboidal epithelium and transitional epithelium, their characteristics and locations in the body.
