Translation Concepts and Process

Nouns derived from members of other word classes:

⦁        nouns dervied from adjectives and verb are very common.

⦁        There are 3 common suffix used to dervie nouns from adjectives

⦁        -ity equality

⦁        -ness goodness

⦁        -ism radicalism.

⦁        All these sffuixes used as proprety of being... where..

⦁        e.g where is the purity in that?

⦁        e.g That is equality!

⦁        Some nouns derving from basses rather than the corresponding adjective

⦁        e.g derving nouns from base of the adjective

⦁        e.g ferocity from feroc not ferocious.

⦁        -ity patter is works with most adjectives that ends with -ious

⦁        e.g capacity from capacious.

⦁        Some noun drvied from adjective with it corresponding

⦁        e.g Delicous to noun: deliciousness.

⦁        For nouns dervied from verbs there are 6 common suffix:

1.        - ance -ence performance: reference.

2.        -ment: engagement

3.        -ing singing

4.        - a)tion organization confusion

5.        -al arrival referral

6.        -er. writer

⦁        Affixation ( suffixes and prefixes) are not the only way to dervie

⦁        Other ways for derving nouns:

1.        change position of the stress Object ( refusing judge judgement) and object the object in the sentenced S V O.

2.        changing final consonants ( prove proof believe belief defense defend)

3.        change in vowel : song : sing Seat : sit.

There are other language used these 3 strataegies or some of them to serve the same purpose.

Adjectives derived from adjectives as well:

⦁         For this subject  the dominant is for prefiexes.

⦁        and the only suffix to use is -ish. meanig: somewhat how X)

⦁        greenish smallish for e.g

⦁        the -un prefix is common and it not listed in most dicitonaries.

⦁        it server contrasting

⦁        unhappy unrelated for e.g

⦁        The -in prefix servee negative not contrasting

⦁        inexpensive impossible irregardless for e.g
