Alcohol

Effects of Alcohol
- High consumption can cause nausea, vomiting, loss of physical control, unconsciousness, or death.
Anabolic Steroids
- Taken orally or through injection, known by names such as steroids, roids, Arnold's, juice, and gym candy.
- Man-made substances resembling male sex hormones, often prescribed for hormonal medical conditions.
- Abused by athletes/bodybuilders to promote muscle growth.
- Associated with increased risk of heart attacks, strokes, liver issues, hair loss, and acne.
- Not physically addictive; addiction often stems from self-image perceptions, competition, or peer pressure.
Cocaine
- A powerful stimulant, absorbing through snorting, injecting, or smoking; known as coke, snow, crack.
- Derived from the coca plant; speeds up brain and nervous system activity.
- Causes increased energy, decreased appetite, heightened mental alertness, but also can lead to heart rhythm disturbances, nausea, respiratory failure, strokes, and seizures.
Dissociative Drugs
- Include PCP, ketamine, and dextromethorphan, taken by mouth, snorting, or smoking.
- PCP often smoked with tobacco or marijuana; leads to disconnection from reality and violent behavior.
- High doses of PCP can cause convulsions, comas, high fever, or death.
- Ketamine, similar to PCP but less potent, is used medically as an anesthetic; can induce terrifying near-death experiences.
- Dextromethorphan is safe at normal doses, but high doses can mimic PCP and ketamine effects.
GHB and Rohypnol
- GHB, known as liquid ecstasy, is a depressant abused for its relaxing effects and muscle growth benefits; can cause seizures, coma, and death at high doses.
- Rohypnol, also a prescription drug, is illegally sold in the US for anxiety; can be deadly when mixed with alcohol or depressants.
- Both drugs are classified as date rape drugs due to their colorless, odorless, and tasteless properties, making them easy to slip into drinks unknowingly.
Hallucinogens
