Triple's Techniques in Studying
- The first step involves becoming familiar with the organization of materials being studied.
- The second step involves finding and keeping the meaning of the materials being studied.
- The third step involves carefully looking for interrelationships and integrating materials by asking and answering broad organizational questions. The goal is for relationships and ideas to be organized logically, understood, and retained.
Effective Listening
- Effective listening combines what we hear, what we understand, and what we remember or recall.
- Comprehension defines the ability to understand the fact to which attention has been drawn or to understand what is seen or heard.
Effective Reading
- Receptive Comprehension involves a literal understanding of an author's surface meaning.
- Reflective Comprehension deals with a reader's ability to determine the author's full meaning. It alos refers to drawing desired inferences from what one reads and apply significant ideas to new situations.
- Previewing material means looking rapidly to determine the overall organization of the message.
Communicative Process

- Attachment refers to the documents that simplify points made in the body of the report, including those required to implement the recommended action.
