The Staff Selection Commission (SSC), established under Government of India Act, is responsible for conducting various recruitment drives for central government departments and organizations. One such examination is the SSC General Duty (GD) Constable exam, which aims to fill vacancies across several security agencies like Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), National Investigation Agency (NIA), Indo-Tibetan Police Force (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Assam Rifles, and others affiliated with the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Eligibility Criteria

Application Process

There is usually no application fee for SC/ST/EXSM/Women candidates; however, all other candidates may be required to pay a nominal amount during registration.

Recruitment Stages

After completing the application process, eligible candidates proceed through three major stages before joining duty—Computer Based Test (CBT), Physical Efficiency Tests (PET)/Physical Standard Tests (PST), and Document Verification (DV).

1. Computer Based Test (CBT): This test consists of objective type questions covering general knowledge, reasoning, quantitative aptitude, and basic science principles.

2. Physical Efficiency Tests/Physical Standard Tests: Male candidates go through PET, consisting of events like sprinting, long jump, shot put, etc., while female candidates participate in PST, including running, high jump, and throwball competitions. Both male and female candidates must also pass the requisite medical tests.

3. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates need to submit original documents along with self-attested photocopies for verification purposes.

Upon clearing these stages successfully, candidates receive their Joining Letters and undergo mandatory training programs before officially taking up duties as constables.
