Security and Transportation of SNS Supplies

• The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is responsible for the security of SNS RSS sites.
• DPS is also responsible for the transportation of SNS supplies to PODs statewide.

Security at POD Sites

• The City of Houston Police Department (HPD) will provide security at SNS POD sites once supplies are delivered.
• HPD's Department Operations Center (DOC) will coordinate with the Texas DPS's SNS Security Coordinator and other agencies to ensure the safety of SNS supplies at RSS sites.
• These agencies include the Houston Health Department (HHD), Houston Independent School District (HISD), Harris County Sheriff's Office (HCSO), and others.

Coordination and Safety

• The DOC will coordinate with other agencies to arrange for the safety of SNS supplies at RSS sites and public safety at local SNS POD sites.

Roles and Responsibilities During a Public Health Emergency (PHE)

• During a PHE, the Local Health Authority (LHA) has the primary authority in releasing Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) assets.
• The LHA is a person designated by the mayor of the City of Houston (COH) to lead the medical response to a PHE.
• The Houston Health Department is the primary City of Houston department responsible for responding to a PHE.
